SUPERSONIC HUG AUTHORS DONATE BOOKS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO HELP OPEN COMMUNITY LIBRARIES

(ST. GEORGE, UTAH) “How can we help?” is a frequent question asked by The Supersonic Hug authors Ron and Christine DiGrandi. This time, a request was made by Desert Color Community Association (DCCA) resident and team member with the Desert Color Volunteer Library Committee, Suzanne Voros.

Suzanne and a small team of local DCCA residents came up with the very unique and brilliant idea of wanting to install a “Book Cabana” library in all the DCCA community parks.

The Library Committee had the vision of seeing kids’ reading books together with friends and family while sitting under the park’s trees and shade structures.

“We want to do this to promote literacy, and have kids experience the fun of igniting their imagination through reading,” said Ms. Voros. She continued, “we want children’s books in all of our little libraries that kids can walk up to and get a free book to read and enjoy.”

DCCA property management also supports installing the little libraries saying how they will be a wonderful addition to the community, encouraging literacy, connection, and sharing among neighbors.

With the vision set in stone, the Library Committee sent an email to all DCCA residents asking for support of their project and seeking donations for children’s books and financial support to purchase each Book Cabana library.

The email explained that the library cabana project is a grassroots voluntary community effort, and the committee is now seeking donations to help purchase and install a Book Cabana in all parks for everyone to enjoy. The cost of each Book Cabana is $700.

Ron and Christine immediately contacted Suzanne and pledged the first two children’s books and $150 dollars to help open the first library. They donated book series #1 – The Supersonic Hug begins in the USA in hard cover and book series #2 – The Supersonic Hug Begins in Mexico in soft cover. All The Supersonic Hug books (50 planned in the series) are an all-in-one storybook and coloring book.

The first Book Cabana library will be installed in the DCCA Fire Sky Park. The library committee has already raised the first $700 for the first Book Cabana library and is currently raising funds for the next one.

The Library Committee is scheduling an opening ceremony celebration for installation of the Fire Sky Book Cabana library and will notify DCCA residents when the date is firm. The celebration will include food, activities and wholesome family fun.

Ron and Christine agreed to be on-hand as part of the celebration to be featured guests and read their children’s books to kids attending the event.

“We are very excited to support such a worthy cause that is specifically created to benefit kids and families. Plus, it’s in our community where we live. A double benefit for us,” said Christine
